In our lives, our God is not into coincidences

By Carol Pocklington

How often have you had a thought, a hope, a wouldn’t it be nice, moment and shortly afterwards it comes to pass?

Psalm 139:2  (TPT) You perceive every movement of my heart and soul, and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind.

I remember many occasions when this has been my experience. Even before I knew God, but was on a journey, I had a fleeting thought about working in Australia. Only hours later a mutual friend, also from the UK and working in Sydney, rang me and suggested a job I might be interested in. She had no idea I was even thinking about Australia.

Twenty three years later – I’m still here in Australia. Gave my life to the Lord within three weeks of landing and never looked back.

This is just one example of many I could share.

Here’s my point – dream big girlfriend. Be extravagant in your thought life. Expect the unexpected, the opportunities, the encounters, the hopes and dreams fulfilled.

Who knows what incredible delights God has planned for you.

Psalm 37:4  (NKJV) Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

So often I’ve heard other women say such things as ‘keep your feet on the ground’; ‘don’t allow fanciful thoughts to invade your mind’; ‘live in the now’. But in my experience dreaming BIG not only lifts your joy level it also invades the way you behave with others.

Like you, I’ve still got many dreams and hopes. I’m a smart woman, I know they won’t all come to pass, but I believe I am a better wife, mother, friend and woman because I allow my mind to imagine, hope and dream.

I have the privilege of coaching a number of women and speaking at women’s events. A consistent feedback comment I receive is about my joyfulness, energy, inspiration, encouragement. I say this not to boast but to focus on the source. I dream big. I’ve seen God answer the craziest of my thoughts so I know He is in my thought life.

So, what are you dreaming about in this season of home isolation? Are you thinking about starting your own business, doing that thing you’ve always dreamt of? Are you clearing out cupboards and dreaming about a new home opportunity – maybe a renovation? Are you thinking about going back to school and taking a subject you always loved but would like to be accredited in?

Well, here’s my thought and hope for you. Speak to a trusted and wise friend. Share your dream. Get your ducks in a row. Write down each step to achieve your dream.

Habakkuk 2:2  (NKJV) Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets,That he may run who reads it.

Then watch what God can do with those thoughts you keep trying to dismiss but they won’t go away.

I’m already cheering you on.
