Matt and I founded Initiate Media way back in 2003 when I was in my mid-twenties. A lot has happened since then. For one, I went from being five months married to now a mother of four. I’m still not sure how we have both managed to build this incredibly demanding company and raise four children at the same time, but with God, all things are possible.
We knew we were called to business, yet we both had a ministry heart, and so by sticking with what we felt we were born to do, God helped us do the rest.
Matt and I acquired Christian Woman from an Australian company called 36 Media. Christian Woman at the time was celebrating its 50th year in print, so now it is literally a 66 year-old ministry. In fact our journey has been documented as Matt has released a book through Ark House Press, our book publishing division titled NOT Business As Usual. It’s an inspiring read of what is possible when you give your life over to God.
I have always been our company’s art, and more recently marketing director, but as our company is well established and I have some great people on my design team, I have felt God calling me closer to the women’s side of the Christian marketplace.
At heart, while I am a ministry woman, business is my love and calling. I don’t propose to be a pastor, but I do have a pastor’s heart in wanting to help Christian women to be all they are meant to be.
I have a great vision for Christian Woman & Co. I believe we are entering an age where jobs are either being gobbled up by technology in the form of automation (and soon to be robots too) or outsourced offshore, leaving people in a position where being an entrepreneur is not an option, but a necessity.
As Christians, we are the head and not the tail, and I am determined that we Christian women do not get left behind. We have proven it in our own company that if you can learn from the best and stay abreast of technology, then anything is possible.
